Born To Be a Star
Brad as in Brad Pitt. Named after Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt, thoroughbred trotting horse Brad De Veluwe is also a superstar in its own league.
The charismatic, handsome and active three-year-old stallion belongs to Europe’s finest colt elite in its age group. It has caused a sensation in the harness racing scene by winning top-level international competitions in Bergsåker and Jarlsberg. In Finland the stallion has won, among others, the season’s main start in the three-year-old Finnish thoroughbred class in the Pajakulma Kriterium finale. The stallion has made almost 300,000€ in competitions so far.
The stallion is the result of the patient breeding work done by the Ingman family from Sipoo. The stallion is trained by Tuomas Korvenoja, a top name in the field. The trainer realized already at an early stage that the trotter had the potential to race to the top. At the age of two Brad still had a boyishly boisterous character, but in a short time he grew up to be a true sports professional.
“He is the best individual I have come across in my career so far”, the experienced trainer says. The comment cuts a dash, as during his career Korvenoja has trained many talented and successful trotters. Brad De Veluwe is exceptionally talented. His strengths include structure, exploding initial speed, good technique, use of power and speed. ”The horse’s initial speed is of monetary value, as it gives a good starting position for the race,” Korvenoja says.
Anders Ingman who presents the breeder and the owner, Lars Ingman Oy Ab, promises that the horse will stay in the family’s ownership and in Finland. Ever since Anders Ingman’s late father Lars Ingman started the family’ s horse breeding tradition, the family has dreamed of an international-level racehorse. Brad De Veluwe is now making the family’s dream come true.
If the first name of the stallion was borrowed from the movie world, what does De Veluwe stand for? De Veluwe is a very beautiful national park in The Netherlands. A Dutch family, who used to spend their summers in Sipoo, built a summer house there and named it after the national park. The De Veluwe summer house is in the Ingman family’s ownership nowadays.
