Trotting in Finland

Suomen Hippos is an active member of the European Trotting Union (U.E.T.) Internationally Finland belongs to the five major trotting sports countries in Europe. European Grand Circuit consists of 14 races. Two of them, Finlandia-Ajo (Helsinki) and Kymi Grand Prix (Kouvola) take place in Finland.

 

Trotting is one of the most popular sports in Finland. There are over 600 meetings throughout the year, every day except for Christmas with about 8 000 horses and 2 000 drivers. The races attract annually 750 000 spectators on racetracks. The biggest event of the year is Kuninkuusravit, the Finnhorse Trotting Championship.

The total turnover in horse betting is 243,3 m€ (year 2010).
